THE 5 PILLARS BETWEEN MALAYSIA AND TAIWAN

Malaysia and Taiwan have many similarities and differences. If these two countries work closely together, they can form prefect compliment of each other. The population of Malaysia and Taiwan is almost the same. On the other hand, Malaysia is blessed with plenty of natural resources and almost none of natural disasters. Taiwan, however, lacks natural resources and always needs to confront natural disasters from time to time. Hence, Malaysia should leverage Taiwans technology and human capital to maximize its economic output. Taiwan should leverage Malaysias resources and people friendliness to add another layer of its economic activities.

First, Malaysia and Taiwan should identify their respective core competencies in all level of economic activities. If in some areas, Taiwan already excelled, Malaysia should cooperate with Taiwan in this field. Taiwan should do the same, vice versa. In this way, both countries can save their limited resources and concentrate on what they do best.

Second, Malaysia and Taiwan should forge alliance to combine their business networks. Taiwan has strong business networks in USA, China and Europe. Malaysia dues to its people diversity, has strong business networks in Middle East, China and India. If they regularly exchange business intelligence regarding their respective business networks, they can do global business much more efficiently. As a result, it is much easier for companies in Malaysia and Taiwan to achieve economy of scale. This is extremely important because most companies in these two countries are small and middle sizes.

Third, Taiwan and Malaysia both conduct global trade and do global business despite their relatively small country size. They both need to compete with much larger countries in many aspects. Their successes depend solely on efficiency of execution. Without crisp and sharp execution, there is no way for Malaysia and Taiwan to further advance. This is evident by their difficulties to move further ahead of the growth ladder. Both countries are facing stagnant growth and find high obstacles to transform their economies to further advance and modern stage. How do you execute better, the strategy is Taiwan concept, Malaysia design, Others make . The end result is that we will have unique products which incorporate different styles and functionalities. By combining resources, Malaysia and Taiwan can move twice as fast thus are able to win by execution.

Fourth, Malaysia and Taiwan basically are economic followers. Taiwan follows USA and Japan technology trends. Malaysia follows Japan and sometimes Taiwan technology trends. By continuing doing this, both countries cannot reap the maximize rewards in their economy activities. In other word, both countries need to abandon their comfort zones and be ahead of the technology curves. The idea is to differentiate their product lines to suit niche markets. Many people in many countries do not need the best and the most advanced products. Many products in the market places today are over-killed with unneeded and never use features and functionalities. By introducing, uniquely Malaysia-Taiwan made product, we can start whole new categories of product lines. In times, Malaysia and Taiwan can be technology leading countries simply by being more practical and reasonable.

Fifth, there will be no economic stability without political stability, so the peace and harmony between Taiwan and China is the most critical issue. The earlier this dilemma is overcome, the better for the economy progress for both Malaysia and Taiwan. Malaysia can offer its people skills to help resolve the age-old problem. What is needed is for Malaysia to serve as bridge and catalyst for Taiwan and China to find a win-win solution. The solution based on the racial harmony among different races in Malaysia is one country three systems. In this proposed frame work, China wins, Taiwan wins and Hong Kong also wins. In term, Malaysia also wins because it make three best friends win.

In conclusion, Malaysia and Taiwan are friends of all weathers. In good time and in bad time, they should always find ways to strengthen their ties.
